Emily Whiteley has a broad teaching experience spanning 25 years. Originally training as a teacher of Spanish and French she is now a Specialist Leader in Education for Autism, Forest School and Outdoor Learning. From first hand experience working with highly disengaged learners and those with complex learning needs, she is passionate about using the outdoors to impact positively on pupil behaviour, achievement and wellbeing.

What to expect on the day:

  • Short introduction to autism and how well Forest School suits autism friendly pedagogy
  • Practical ideas on how to adapt classic Forest School activities to maximise impact on autistic learners
  • Share some sensory story ideas & have chance to create some of own to take away and develop
  • Learn about intensive interaction activities that can be used to develop shared attention skills
