A practical outdoor CPD day for those interested in establishing a forest school at their setting e.g. schools, community groups, youth clubs etc. The day will cover the context of forest schools, risk assessment, insurance and other practicalities, ideas for forest school activities, site design, involving stakeholders and more. An all-outdoor day to inspire trainees with the ideas, skills and knowledge to develop forest school at their school, community organisation or woodland setting.
Cost: £75 (£50 for Full Members of BFSN)
Helen Rook, has been practising in education of over 20 years and been a Forest School leader since 2008, working with people of all ages and abilities in the outdoors; from early years, primary, secondary and further and higher education. Her main role involves working with adults with learning disabilities and high needs in various outdoor settings. She is a qualified teacher and experienced trainer, passionate about holistic education for all.
Phil Lowde has 25 years’ experience designing and implementing a range of training, management and CPD activities for a number of blue chip companies in the UK. He is also actively involved in running training programmes for Schools and other Outdoor Learning Practitioners, as well working directly with young people to help them understand the benefits of Outdoor Creative Learning.
Annie Berrington is the founder and Managing Director of Get Out More CIC, a social enterprise on a mission to help people engage with nature to feel better in mind and body. A qualified and experienced forest school practitioner, Annie has set up and run forest schools in a wide range of settings across West Yorkshire and is an advocate for helping to give teachers and community workers the ideas, skills and confidence to engage children in the adventure of outdoor play and learning.
