Low Wood Scout Camp
Forest Fest has always been a highlight of the Bradford Forest School Network’s calendar and a chance for practitioners and anyone interested in forest schools, outdoor learning and play to get together, meet new people, swap ideas, learn some skills and have a really good laugh, all in a beautiful and relaxing woodland environment! This year’s Forest Fest will be Saturday 19th October 2019, at Low Wood, Riddlesden. Workshops will include: Poetry & art in the woods, Weapons in play (making them & discussing the theory); and Foraging then cooking it on the fire! Again there is the option for overnight camping, bacon/veg buttie for breakfast, and skills share on the Sunday morning for those who want to pack in more in-depth networking, play a couple of games, eat curry around a camp fire and have a few more laughs. We very much hope to see you there!
As with last year, ForestFest has to be totally funded through ticket sales and to keep fees to a minimum it is a ‘collectively run event, with everyone (i.e. all attendees) contributing to the delivery of it e.g. through running a short workshop, cooking, food prep, sorting the campfire, making teas and coffees etc. No specific skills are necessary and you won’t be asked to do anything outside your comfort zone, but hopefully you can share and learn and have a laugh as you go…
New for 2019: We have changed the venue to Low Wood, Howden Rough, Riddlesden, Keighley, West Yorkshire. We wanted to branch out, offer a contrasting natural environment and support a new local community venture. Especially for those travelling from outside of the district we wanted to offer you a special taste of Bradford and so we have decided to buy in a Keighley curry for Saturday night’s dinner – all included in the price. We hope you will stay and join us, even if you don’t want to camp.
