Low Wood Scout Camp

In light of the Covid-19 situation, this event is on hold.  It is likely to be cancelled, but if restrictions are lifted in time, Bradford Forest School Network will convene a last minute event

ForestFest has always been a highlight of the Bradford Forest School Network’s calendar. It is a chance for practitioners and anyone interested in forest schools, outdoor learning and play to get together, meet new people, learn some skills, share ideas and have a really good laugh, all in a beautiful and relaxing woodland environment.

ForestFest 2020 will be largely funded through ticket sales. To keep fees to a minimum it is a ‘collectively run event’, with everyone (i.e. all attendees) contributing to the delivery of it e.g. through setting up, making teas and coffees, sorting the campfire, collecting the takeaways, cooking breakfast, sweeping up etc. No specific skills are necessary and you won’t be asked to do anything outside your comfort zone, but hopefully you can share, learn and have fun as you go…

We are returning to Low Wood, Riddlesden, nr Keighley (where we’re hoping to experience this developing site with better weather than we had there last October for ForestFest 2019).

For Saturday’s night’s dinner, due to popular demand, we’re offering you a special taste of Bradford with a Keighley curry – all included in the price. We hope you will stay and join us, even if you don’t want to camp.

BFSN MEMBERS EARLY BIRD: If you can book by 31st March, a mere £25 secures your place for the full weekend, whether you come just for the day of workshops and networking or stay for the curry and the camp fire.
BFSN MEMBERS: £35 secures your place for the full weekend, whether you come just for the day of workshops and networking, or stay for the curry and the camp fire.
BFSN ASSOCIATE MEMBERS AND NON BFSN MEMBERS: It’s still a snip at £40 for early bird tickets bought before 31st March or £50 after that, for all of the above, but without access to the informative newsletter, Skills Shares and CPD sessions run throughout the year. Please note that you can become a member (giving you a reduced ticket price for this) at any time, just fill out the online membership form from the website.

If you would like to STAY OVERNIGHT for a campfire & associated activities, bacon/veggie breakfast bap and a Sunday morning activity, please note that there is a £5 overnight fee, to be purchased separately. You can choose between camping in your own kit eg tent or hammock (unlimited), or feel free to park your camper van in the car park for the night.

It’ll be helpful to know who is attending. Please let us know if there’s anything you’d like to tell us about. If you think you might like to offer a workshop, please let us know. This won’t commit you to running one, it’ll just prompt us to ask you if you’d like to, in due course… Similarly please advise us of any particular skills you have which we might find useful!…

Refunds: 30 days prior to the event

Full details of workshops, directions and a kit list will be sent nearer the time. Please contact Ruth McBain (07970 956177 or if you have any questions.
