orest School has changed from the days when we undertook our training, due to the Covid-19 virus. We now have new and varied experiences of session planning, risk assessment and delivery of sessions, with the need for adapted use of kit, changes to games, different hand washing and hygiene regimes etc. Some of us might have been working in school all term, whilst others might not have been able to deliver any sessions. “It’s Forest School, Jim, but not as we know it.” We are all trying slightly different things and have lots of lessons to learn and share. Hopefully we can offer each other emotional support in addition to some practical solutions.

We’re going to gather in groups no larger than 6, in the woods, to focus on:

  1. practical solutions to games, activities and skills
  2. risk-benefit assessments, policies, hygiene etc
  3. anything else you’re feeling in need of!

Bradford Forest School Network’s Skills Share sessions are an informal way to build ideas, gain skills and meet other forest school and outdoor learning practitioners . Exact content will be determined by those that come on the day, but we’ll encourage everyone to share their experiences or ideas with others in the group. However don’t be dissuaded if you don’t have an idea to share – all are welcome!

Hopefully we’ll all leave feeling more confident about running Forest School – with some new games & activity ideas – for a world with Covid-19…
